GGB Youngstown – All AmeriCon

GGB Youngstown – All AmeriCon

For our July brunch, the Youngstown Geek Girl Brunch chapter switched it up a bit and attended All AmeriCon – a toy, comic, and art show in Youngstown at the Covelli Center on July 9, 2017. All-American Cards and Comics has been a great sponsor of our brunches in the past and their employees do their best to tell patrons about us or pass them a flyer.

About 10 of us gathered outside the convention before heading inside, each armed with a scavenger hunt list created by Danamarie as well as buttons created by Sam. Our awesome prize package was amassed by Danamarie and includes some swag from All-American Cards and Comics!

Some of the scavenger hunt items included finding the Lego Rainbow Batman Minifig, taking a picture with Batman, locating a comic book graded 9.4 or higher, and singing “I’m a little teapot” to Darlene Abilay (a GGB Cleveland officer) at her booth.

We spent a few hours at the convention. Of particular note was Knightmage, who is a local sheriff’s deputy when he is not cosplaying (seen in our featured picture), as well as massages provided by Wonder Woman.

We have been receiving messages on social media from new members who found out about us from All AmeriCon and we are so pleased to have connected with them!

After the convention, some of us went to The Federal for lunch and drinks (with some partners in tow). We discussed the latest in Game of Thrones as well as made tentative plans to attend The Great Lakes Medieval Faire in Cleveland in late July.

The winner of the scavenger hunt was Kristy!

We had a great time at All-AmeriCon and were more than happy to show our support to All-American Cards and Comics! We can’t wait for next year!
