The April GGB Phoenix brunch theme was Alice’s Tea Party, and probably one of our last opportunities to hang out together on the patio until summer passes here in Phoenix. Our brunch meetup was at A Shot of Java in Glendale, which is in the northwest part of the Phoenix metro area.  Our brunchettes were set up on the patio next to the coffee shop, and we did not miss out on the opportunity to have custom coffee drinks and pastries while we chatted about everything from our fur babies to the upcoming Phoenix Comicon, where we plan to meet up next. Since our meetup was the day before Easter, we compared notes on our family events and some of the geeky plans we have for this summer.

We had tea party dresses, gloves, pocket watches, bunny ears, drink me potion bottles and tea cup hat fascinators. Our girls are so creative!

As part of the fun, we raffled a Jamberry nail wrap set, two framed Alice in Wonderland art prints and a gorgeously bound sketchbook. Each brunchette also took home a necklace with a skeleton key attached, and GGB Phoenix member Jennifer’s infamous bark candy.

Afterward, many in the group were eager to walk across the street to Glendale’s infamous comic book store, Drawn to Comics. Drawn to Comics is independently owned and one of the top destinations for comic books here in the Valley. Drawn to Comics was the perfect opportunity for us to pick up some new issues, and get recommendations from each other on which comics we should start next. The staff at Drawn to Comics seemed bemused by our Alice in Wonderland outfits but they were very accommodating, and gave some great suggestions of their own.

Although we walked out with our shopping bags full of new reads, some of the girls were hungry for food, so we wandered back across the street and had pizza at Pizza Old Roma. It was starting to get hot outside, but we braved the pizza oven heat for Pizza Old Roma’s delicious slices anyway, and were not disappointed. Their pizza is so yum, we vowed to come back the next time we’re in Glendale!

We encourage our girls to exchange social media handles if they made friends during brunch. We also put together a short video showing off the fun we had at Alice’s Tea Party (click here to watch on YouTube). Thank you to all of the girls who attended Alice’s Tea Party. Our next brunch will be Memorial Weekend during Phoenix Comicon!
