GGB Philly Goes “Beyond” at July’s Star Trek Brunch

When we asked the ladies of GGB Philly what themes they were excited to see next, Star Trek was one of the most highly requested, and that’s no surprise! With this summer’s blockbuster, Star Trek: Beyond, we just knew our brunchettes would be even more excited to throw on their red, yellow or blue and celebrate their favorite characters and stories.

And we were right! About 20 ladies joined us for July’s Star Trek Brunch, which we held at the Grand Lux Cafe in King of Prussia, one of Philly’s western suburbs. The Grand Lux was absolutely gorgeous, and our spot right in front of the window made it a warm and welcoming way to get to know new friends.

Brunchettes were really excited when we first announced Star Trek Brunch, and we were excited to see how many members showed up to the restaurant in full-on Star Trek gear! (And yes, the redshirt jokes abounded this month.)

In addition to great cosplays, cocktails and conversation, each brunchette took home one of the Star Trek: The Next Generation-inspired hair bows, crafted with love by the GGB Philly officers!

We were also so thankful to Orbit Books for sponsoring one of our giveaway prizes — a copy of the book Beyond the Throne by K.B. Wagers, an adventurous space opera perfect for fans of Star Trek‘s sci-fi action.

Another huge thanks goes to Reel Cinemas Wayne, a local theater just a short drive from the Grand Lux. Reel Cinemas donated 3 tickets to see Star Trek: Beyond, which several of our brunchettes used to go see the movie as a group after finishing their meal.

We look forward to seeing everyone again at August’s Villains Brunch.
