Gainesville’s Brunch Roundup!

Gainesville’s Brunch Roundup!

Here’s what we’ve been up to!

Our March brunch was held right before the second day of SwampCon, our local anime, gaming and comics convention. We met up at Bagels and Noodles. This was our first “open” brunch, and members were able to bring a guest.

April’s brunch was springtime themed. The weather was heating up, but we were determined to eat outside. Everyone wore their best florals at The Patio: Pizza and Provisions. Megan M. brought baby Theo, and everyone loved cooing over him.

In May we met up at Public & General for a Disney brunch! The food here was so good. The mimosas were definitely flowing. We realized that quite a few of us had Star Wars outfits and decided to make that a future theme.

June’s brunch was Star Wars/Pride themed. We all met up at Goldie’s Burgers inside of Depo Park. The rain couldn’t keep us away from Goldie’s patty melts. Swag bags had Grogu lip balm and rainbow light saber stickers!

The Gainesville chapter also has started week night meet ups. We had a wine and cheese night at Superette and a craft night at First Magnitude Brewing. We’ve been trying to find a solution for members who work during the weekends, and this was it!

In July we said goodbye to our founder, Emily. She and her husband are starting the next chapter of their lives in a new state. We had a brunch in honor of her at OAK (Original American Kitchen). Brunchettes wore ponytails, Emily’s signature hairstyle.

When I started GGB GNV in 2018, I had no idea how big the chapter would become. I’ve met a lot of great friends through it, and I’m so proud of every event we’ve held. The chapter will be in the very capable hands of fellow officer Megan L., and Megan M. has stepped up to be a new officer. She has a lot of great ideas for the chapter that I know y’all will love. I’ll be back to visit, and hopefully we can brunch together in the future!
