GGB StL’s Annual Galentine’s Day Celebration

GGB StL’s Annual Galentine’s Day Celebration

What’s Galentine’s Day you ask? In the words of Leslie Knope, it’s only the best day of the year. On February 16th, the ladies of GGB StL Metro left our husbands/wives, our boyfriends/girlfriends, partners, significant others, cats, dogs, children, and whoever else at home and we just went and kicked it breakfast style! Ladies celebrating ladies! It’s like Lilith Fair minus the angst. Plus frittatas. Does that answer your question?  Great!

Our annual Galantine’s brunch was held at our usual spot, Pieces: The St. Louis Board Game Bar & Cafe, where the mimosas are bottomless, the drinks are named things like After School Snack, Nuka Cola, Pretty Pretty Princess, and a Floating Yoda and come with things like bomb pops, candy bracelets, or are served in capri sun style pouches, and the food is always fantastic.  Some of the popular items amongst our brunchettes were the breakfast fried rice, the hummus, and the breakfast tacos.  What’s unique about this location?  Well, I’m glad you asked!  Pieces houses a game library that contains over 800 board and card games that range from super easy, to really in depth and hard.  The games span across all age groups and all decades, which helps to bring back some nostalgia.

This particular brunch is set up Secret Santa style, in that brunchettes are matched up secretly and get to bring a gift for their Galentine.  Each geekette participating in the gift swap states their top 3 fandoms and hobbies, and we all have fun picking out unique geeky items for each other.  To top it off, we also do a valentines swap and encourage ladies to bring in unique valentines boxes to make it even more nostalgic to our childhoods of swapping Valentine’s in elementary.  This is by far a brunch that we all look forward too and it always has a fantastic turnout.  We’re glad to share our love of Galantine’s day with so many amazingly geeky ladies.
