Geek Girl Brunch Cleveland November’s Blind Date With A Book and Bowling

Our November brunch is the same each year and always a massive member favorite! We went on our Blind Date with a Book.

Our brunch took place at Yorktown Lanes in Parma! They generously provided 2 $10 gift cards to raffle off to our members! They could be used for food or bowling which meant that they could buy even more food to go with their bowling game! Congrats Erin and Cata!

We started by handing out tickets to draw the order of choice. As each girl was called she could choose a wrapped book on the table covered in clues about what was hidden within or steal a wrapped book from another member. Not until every girl had a book did we open them! Some girls had correctly guessed their books and many of them were surprises. Everyone was looking forward to immediately jumping in to read. You can see the whole list of every book exchanged here.

While girls chose their books we ordered and got our food. You might expect nothing but pretzels and chips at a bowling alley but Yorktown had one of the best menus! They have everything from flatbreads, breakfast, and burgers to your more typical fried pickles and pretzels.

After brunch a number of the girls headed to the lanes and got to bowling. We offered a gift basket to the high scorer! It was full of books and treats to make a great date night with her book at home. Congrats Amy.

Other activities that took place this month was our movie meetup night that actually was split up between three different theaters around Cleveland and surrounding areas. They all went to see Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald.

November Game night was held on Saturday November 10th. This month’s theme was card games. We had a Thanksgiving themed potluck with three kinds of potatoes!

November Book Club was held on Saturday November 10th. This month we read “Choose Your Own Autobiography” by Neal Patrick Harris. We ventured to The West Side Market and ate at The Flying Fig.

And a few times this month a number of members banded together to play the HQ app online trying to win Harry Potter and Marvel trivia!

This December we have a few activities already planned but possibly more to come! We don’t have an official brunch in December but we’re sure you’ll still find plenty of opportunities to hang out with your geek girl friends!

Game night is December 1st with at least one table focusing on Monopoly and one on various other games!

Book Club will be meeting on December 2nd to discuss the book Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon.

Finally, on December 22nd, the Movie Outing was for Mary Poppins Returns.

Stay tuned for January 2019, where our first official brunch of the year will be Dogs!
