GGB Cleveland – Harry Potter and the Brunch of Fire

Harry Potter and the Brunch of Fire was the theme for August. Two of our members participated in Pinot’s Palette’s Cauldron Chemist event.

Brunch was held at Fire Food and Drink. The menu was brunch fare. And, their valet parking helped a lot of our members out, because we were not familiar with this part of Cleveland, and finding parking was difficult. (It was all metered, even on the weekends.)

Every attendee received: a pack of Harry Potter 8×10 photos from Officer Darlene, handmade wands from Officer Amanda, and Katrina made pygmy puffs and Harry Potter themed cookies.

Officer Megan created a Harry Potter trivia game for everyone to do. The top 3 people who responded with correct answers were able to pick a swag item. And, the rest were raffled off.

After brunch, we didn’t have a post brunch activity planned, as the officers needed to meet. We met to discuss our remaining brunch themes for the year, the new officer candidate applications, and task assignments.

For August, our Book Club read “Secret Loves of Geek Girls” by Margaret Atwood, and their event was held at Ice Cream Joy. Unfortunately, there wasn’t much interest in seeing the Ghibli movie Castle in the Sky for the Movie Outing, that was going to be hosted by Sabrina. So, we will have a poll created for September’s event, which will hopefully generate more interest.

Next up…September’s Geek Girl Brunch Cleveland theme is Saturday Morning Cartoons. Our Book Club is reading another graphic novel called “Nimona’ by Noelle Stevenson. And, a poll has already been setup on our Facebook page so our members could vote on what they would like to see in the movie theater for September. And, new officers will be announced.
