GGB Reno’s October Brunch

GGB Reno’s October Brunch

The Reno chapter of Geek Girl Brunch hosted their third brunch on Sunday, October 25th at Stone House Cafe. We had a lot of fun with some amazing ladies, and we talked about all things geeky–from Doctor Who to comics to the new Star Wars film. We discussed our favorite companions (it seems like it’s pretty unanimous that Martha was the best companion, even if she isn’t everyone’s favorite), and we’re all so excited for Star Wars!

We had awesome drink choices, and the food was delicious. We talked about our favorite fandoms (Doctor Who, Sherlock, anime, comics–we had a little bit of everything!). We were able to meet new ladies and have fun chatting about awesome geeky stuff. We found out about a local geeky group called Great Basin Geeks, and a lot of the ladies from that group came to brunch! We also talked about meeting up at Wizard World next month, and we’re so excited to hang out again with the awesome new geeky ladies we met!

We had fun goodie bags with Halloween-themed treats, including sweet spider rings, candy, and bubbles. We were able to recommend awesome stuff for others to check out like comics and shows (check out Reno officer Katie’s weekly pull list here), and we can’t wait to meet up again to talk about all the new stuff we’re into.

We also had a fantastic server, Sean, who was kind enough to take a group photo for us…but not before secretly taking a selfie.

He was fantastic, as was Stone House for making it so easy to make a reservation for our group. The whole experience was great, and we’re thinking about making this our regular spot for future brunches.

Geek Girl Brunch is always a fun time, and we love that we have a fun and welcoming place to meet new awesome ladies, talk about our geeky loves, and drink mimosas (and Irish coffee!) We’re all looking forward to the next one. If you’re in the Reno area, be sure to like our Facebook page and sign up so you can join us for the next one!
