MEET OUR GEEKY OFFICERS

Jen

Jen has been a geek ever since Sailormoon first appeared on Toonami. Since then, Jen has been a huge fan of Japanese culture – you could call her an otaku. Having indulged in anime, Japanese food, history, and gaming – these interests have blossomed into multiple passions and hobbies. She also has been a DJ since 2015 and started streaming on Twitch in 2021. Now as an officer of Geek Girl Brunch: Greater Austin, she aims to share her geeky obsessions with other like-minded people. Vanessa

Vanessa grew up completely engulfed by movies, tv, and other geek culture. She played way too much Nintendo, and board & card games (Tripoley and cribbage FTW). She loves science, word games, video games, trivia, terrible, terrible puns, and awesome alliterations. Now she makes nerdy clothes, costumes, and other stuff with her magical sewing machine. Basically, being a nerd girl is the only way she knows how to live. She’s even a part of the GGB HQ team!

A further random sampling of her multitudinous geeky loves would include Star Trek/Wars, 80s/early 90s sci-fi/horror (think Terry Gilliam, Sam Raimi, early Spielberg, early Tim Burton, Paul Verhoeven, John Carpenter, etc.), The Legend of Zelda, Mythbusters, Xena, DC, Community, Pinky & the Brain, The Expanse, Red Letter Media, The Simpsons, Universal Monsters, Ed Wood, Ray Harryhausen, costuming, LOTR, Kurt Vonnegut, Jim Henson, B-movies, MST3K, Super Mario, Neil deGrasse Tyson, Little Shop of Horrors, Mel Brooks, Lego, movie scores, Monty Python, Avatar/Korra, Lego, Back to the Future, oh, and she’s a total Disnerd too. After a lifetime of geekiness, her list is too freaking long. She basically lives and breathes nerdery.
