New Year Gift Exchange: GGBNN Edition

New Year Gift Exchange: GGBNN Edition

After the hustle and bustle of the holidays, the Newport News Chapter of GeekGirl Brunch met up for some fun at Kelly’s Tavern in Port Warwick for a White elephant gift exchange. It was a great way to start off the new year with good friends, food, and fun!

To date this has been our biggest gathering of brunchettes, and they did not dissapoint! After ordering some drinks to ring in the new year and a wide selection of tasty noms, the girls welcomed a few new members to the bunch. Welcome new Brunchettes Laura, Amber, and Meredith! We also welcomed brunchette Arlene as our official craft officer!

A big basket full of an assortment of geeky goodies was raffled off, and Meredith was the lucky winner! Some of the items included in the basket were a poster from the Netflix reboot of She-Ra, a Spiderman pez, some flair, a few small art pieces signed by the artists, some selfcare face masks, and gamer nail decals from Espionage Cosmetics.

For the White Elephant portion of the gathering, a fun twist was played on the traditional swap game. We have so many nice and polite brunchettes, that “swiping” gifts isn’t in their nature. A coin flip element was added to force their hands and add a bit of innocent rivalry. If the coin lands on heads you open a present, if it lands on tails you swipe a present from someone.A lot of cute geeky gifts worked their way around the group this way!

Girls and their gifts!

A lighthearted good time was had by all! The New year leads us to our February Brunch with a Gal-entines theme! The Gal-entines brunch will embrace how much we appreciate our geeky gals by creating, giving, and trading valentines with each other over a light lunch.

An additional surprise at brunch will be Artist Wendy Harris from Harris House of Henna who will be on hand to do henna body art designs for the ladies. What better way to celebrate the awesome friendships that have been made here! Girl power!
