GGB DFW Wine and Design June 2016

In addition to our regular brunch this month, the DFW area ladies got to display our geeky creativity at a Wine and Design event at Dallas Makerspace. Kitschy Keen, a local company who delights in making nerdy designs and more, came to Dallas Markerspace and walked us through a fabulous sign-making workshop, with all materials provided and her expertise on hand to instruct us as we crafted our signs.

We chose from among these four designs.

When we signed up, each brunchette chose from among the four geeky designs and whether we would like a solid or palleted sign already put together for us! On the day of the event, we then selected the colors we wanted for the background, lettering, and other design elements. Kitschy Keen walked us through each step of the process of prepping our wood pallet, painting the background, transferring the stencil to the pallet, ensuring it was well attached, and finishing the painting. We sipped on wine and nibbled on snacks while we worked. Well we drank a lot of wine, forgot there were snacks, and had a lot of fun.

The best part was peeling off the stencils to reveal the finished signs! And of course each person took her sign home to display her geeky passions. All in all it was a great bonding event were new brunchettes got to meet and chat with pledged brunchettes, discuss their favorite topics, and make a whole bunch of new friends.

Our next event is a regular brunch, on Sunday, July 10. We’ll be meeting at Urban Crust in Plano, from 12pm to 2pm for yummy pizza, salads, and appetizers (and can’t forget their famous bellini’s!). The theme will be fantasy: come share your love of unicorns, elves, fairies, goddesses, and other fantastical creatures!
