GGB Philly – Harry Potter’s Potions and Magical Studies

Geek Girl Brunch Philadelphia brunchettes (aka students) headed back to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry for their third year! This year’s theme was “Hogwarts’s Potions & Magical Studies.” Students were given house colored folders which contained their official Hogwarts class schedule and told to proceed to their first class (aka their assigned table). The four classes were: Potions, Care of Magical Creatures, Defense against the Dark Arts, and Divination. Besides the class schedule, the folders contained class assignments which helped spark table conversation like share a favorite cocktail recipe if you were assigned to the Potions class, Bingo cards to learn even more about other students like who has made their own Butterbeer or attended midnight book releases, raffle tickets, FanMail pens, and 4 random students (1 from each house) were given Felix Felicis cards to trade in for a 2018 Harry Potter character calendar (How very luck of them!).

On each table, potion bottles made by the officers containing Polyjuice Potion, Mermaid Tears, Dragon Blood, Wolfsbane, and a variety of other potions were available for everyone to take with them. Other goodies included edible Golden Snitches(Lindt white chocolate truffles with snitch wings attached), Hogwarts house pencils, HP tattoos, and origami (aka cootie catcher) Sorting Hats.

After feasting on British breakfasts including Harry Potter themed pastries from the Victoria Freehouse, raffle prizes were drawn! There were a lot of prizes to raffle such as a USB divination crystal ball, George Weasley and Draco Malfoy Funko Pop!s, Deathly Hallows necklace, Hermione’s time turner necklace, a Marauder’s Map notebook, bookmarks, puzzles, and much more!

We then took official house photos and everyone headed back to their applicable Common room for a nice relaxing nap! =)
